STUDIO 9 strengthens sustainability and compliance team
STUDIO 9 is pleased to welcome Gabriela Kaczmarska and Liv Bangshaab - two new colleagues who will strengthen our sustainability and compliance capabilities and help turn increasingly complex requirements into clear, practical action.
As expectations around product documentation, responsible sourcing, environmental impact and regulatory compliance continue to evolve, specialist knowledge is becoming increasingly important. With Gabi and Liv joining the team, we are strengthening the support we provide across our organisation, supply chain and customer collaborations.
Gabriela Kaczmarska: Creating clarity and structure
Gabriela Kaczmarska joins STUDIO 9 as Compliance & Sustainability Manager. She holds a master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering and brings around 20 years of experience in materials, chemistry, sustainability and regulatory compliance.
“My background in materials science made me curious about what products are made of and how those choices affect safety, performance and environmental impact,” Gabi explains. “Sustainability and compliance bring those interests together.”
In her new role, Gabi will drive STUDIO 9’s compliance and sustainability work, ensuring that the necessary processes, documentation and follow-up are in place. Her responsibilities include product and chemical compliance, supplier due diligence, certifications, carbon accounting and reporting.
She will also coordinate the implementation of the shared Nine United 2030 Sustainability Strategy at STUDIO 9, helping translate long-term goals into everyday decisions and concrete actions.
“A common thread throughout my career has been turning complex requirements into clear, practical solutions,” Gabi says. “Understanding a requirement is one part of the job; helping people understand it and put it into practice is where I feel I can make a real contribution.”
Her approach is guided by one simple question: “How would I explain this to a ten-year-old?” For Gabi, it is a useful reminder to use plain language, focus on what matters and make complex topics easier to understand.
Liv Bangshaab: Making guidance easier to apply
Liv Bangshaab joins STUDIO 9 as Compliance & Sustainability Specialist. She is a civil engineer in Industrial Design, with expertise spanning product development, circular economy and sustainable practices.
The position brings together two important parts of Liv’s professional profile: working with products and developing more sustainable ways of doing things.
“Through my studies, I developed both the experience and the interest needed to turn complex problems into simple solutions,” Liv explains. “Compliance and sustainability involve a great deal of complexity, and the field is constantly changing. That means we need to stay informed, adapt and continuously improve the way we work.”
Liv will be responsible for sustainability and compliance communication, customer guidance, claims and labelling. She will also serve as the go-to specialist for Garment Accessories, helping colleagues and customers navigate changing legislation and translate it into clear guidance and streamlined processes.
“I see my role as both an internal and external helping hand,” Liv says. “I look forward to helping more people navigate these topics and turning complexity into clear guidelines, advice and processes for our colleagues and customers.”
Shared knowledge with strong local expertise
For both Gabi and Liv, close collaboration is essential. Reliable data, clear responsibilities and strong supplier relationships provide the foundation for meeting regulatory requirements while identifying opportunities for further improvement. Their combined expertise will help integrate sustainability and compliance considerations earlier in sourcing, design and product development - where informed choices can make the greatest difference.
“At Nine United, we work from a shared sustainability and compliance strategy across our companies. This enables us to share knowledge, experience and solutions throughout the value chain - and create greater impact, faster,” says Jonas Ekholst, Head of Sustainability.
“At the same time, local experts in each company and market provide strong local insight into specific production conditions and close support for our customers, so they do not have to manage that complexity themselves.”
Together, Gabi and Liv will play an important role in strengthening STUDIO 9’s processes, supporting our customers and turning regulations, data and ambitions into practical action throughout the value chain.
We are very pleased to welcome them both to STUDIO 9.
